What value would you put on yourself? Are your feelings and opinions worth more than others, the same as others or less than others?  Society places expectations on us all how do we look how do we act are we rich are we poor.  Yet sadly we never seem to value people by their compassion, their kindness or their love, or at least not in terms equitable to money, looks etc.

So how do you value yourself, what values and principles are important to you. Would you be happy if you won a million pounds, or happier if you found a loving partner.  Do you feel that you are swayed by others judgements.  Do you dress in a particular way because it’s expected or buy the latest gadget because everyone else has one?

Of course the problem of judging yourself by other people or society standards is that they change and can change quickly. If we look at the high bonuses paid at the moment to people in the city, public opinion is very harsh towards high pay awards. Yet back in the past everyone was aspiring to as high a salary as they could get. How much better to measure ourselves by our own standards? Are we compassionate to those important to us? Do we have the right balance of work and life?

As you start to measure yourself by those standards that are important to you, our self-belief and self-worth starts to rise. But perhaps the most interesting thing is that you start to value that quality in others over the previous outer appearances that they had.

Ultimately this inner strength will help you to get through the hardest of trials because you get you values from within you do not need to look to others for approval.  Ultimately real self-worth is priceless
